It is fundamental in life to be honest with yourself. If you cannot be straight with others, at least be straight with yourself. You have made liberal shots at me, at the retarded bigot, and at thekerbau. You are like an exploding suicide bomber. Or do you really possess so little self-awareness as to qualify as the next forum retard?

Nice try.  It's generally easiest to utter inane cliches and then to resort to defensiveness, insults and attempts to incite others to join you in name-calling when you are unable to engage in open minded discussion.  In one post, you have succeeded in doing all of the above.  Pointing out that you, by your own admission, have only been learning to sew for 3 years is in no way taking shots at you.  Can you honestly say that you've made a shirt, trousers, vest, and coat completely on your own? (To high industry standard nonetheless?)  Really, you can't call yourself a tailor until you reach a level to which those already recognized as such have attained. How many tailors in Malaysia regard you as a tailor?   By the way, I've been to this forum probably less than ten times in the last 2 years, and now I'm an exploding suicide bomber/forum retard.  And why?  Simply because I've pointed out the similarities between you and MOP.    Okay then, enjoy your little sartorial fiefdom.

Pierre is of course a retard who ordered, had shipped, but then couldn't pay for his length of kerbau cloth. He didn't have the money. He also approached me to make a suit for him, but cancelled when I asked for a 60% deposit instead of 50%. He just didn't have the money.

He also in a previous occasion had said the same things about me; that I can't sew, etc. But then apologised in a PM, and said he didn't mean to insult. I realised he was emotionally unstable, and not somebody I want to deal with and so ignored him.

Pierre, your membership at thekerbau has been permanently revoked.

Well debate snipped at the bud!

Although, it would have been nice to afford Pierre Taylor the opportunity to respond to your accusations. Just playing devils advocate here, but it does seem a tad weird that

  1. Nabil would have taken his order and paid for it without receiving payment in kind,
  2. how would the logistics work? He flew all the way here so that you are able to make a suit for him?

More importantly, why bother bringing this up?

I must way, it's such a ''cultural conditioning'' thing to tie ones integrity and worth to their net worth!

This could very well be my final post! =)

Kind regards,

EF Lau.

Actually, that's the whole reason I started this forum. The lowyat mods back in the days would suspend me each time I got into an argument with someone. You have this little boy of a mod suspending a kotmj. Imagine. I thought it was ridiculous and started thekerbau, partly because the environment at lowyat was not conducive to higher level conversation about clothes, but also to show the mod (FusionEx) how a forum is actually run. It's not about software, not about forum hygiene, not about policing, not about being nice to idiots who complain about kotmj's abrasiveness.

Imagine a few guys on plastic stools talking animatedly to each other. That's what a forum is about. They can be by a roadside, without shade or shelter. Doesn't matter. The conversation is the forum.

Later, I realised that a tailoring business can also be distilled down to a minimum. It's not about the shop, not about the décor, not about the certs from London.

He was one of the pioneers on this forum.

Had a misunderstanding with Jeremy and then left for awhile.

I haven't seen him post in the longest of time, but I actually thinking that someone with tailoring knowledge should adjudicate MOP and Kotmj and bam he came by!

Just as it was getting interesting he got himself kicked out. Although I must this reeks of Fusion Ex.

I can always count on MOP to give a heads up on what the latest StyFo gossip is. Which is great because I hardly read there anymore.

I wouldn't say this latest nonsense qualifies Luca as a "faker". It only stacks wood on the bonfire of idiocy that Luca already sits in. I still find it difficult to comprehend how the heir apparent to a prestigious tailoring house chooses to dress like a dandy hobo and is still "revered" as a style icon.

I have no skin in the amateursarto game, but it is very opaque to the average forum participant and perhaps some transparency, and ideally some educated debate that descends into shit-slinging, does not strike me as necessarily a bad thing.

If this forum starts to ban people by whatever , sadly soon will be like the big know forum where great posters as Film Noir, me, or others got banned and only let a bunch of friends of them posters with any idea or good taste as Manton, Whnay or the nacci hooligan with an icon of himself.

I humble say that attack a people for lacking of money is not on good taste and not very dignous, specially on this crisis days, as is not like the bad taste in dressing, that one can change or improve as i always critic.

Best

Edit, i am always being asked for ties, fabrics etc, by people who then never replies. One guy made me an order of close to 2000e, took me half the Summer with 42 celsius and broken air a. Asking his questions and rescanning books and taking hi res pics of almost all i got. I ordered a few ones and ate all as he never paid or answer. I knew from the beginning he was a troll but i worked proffesionally.

I find I derive great pleasure from banning idiots. It's like this fly which has been buzzing around your face. You take an electric swatter and electrocute the thing. You can smell the singed flesh, and you see it turning black in the mesh. Hah, you think to yourself, I have finally dispatched it to where it belongs.

Steve Jobs' last words were "Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow." The idiot had to die to see it. Some people will need to die to be relieved of that which possesses them. While they are alive, I have to make sure they are not on this forum.

That was an interesting exchange for sure. It did make me think about the tailoring industry in this region.

From what I've read on this forum, it appears that aspects of tailoring are segregated into different skill sets where you have roles like coat maker and shirt maker. What about the person that takes your measurement? A fitter? A sales person? This person seems to do minimum or no sewing given the need to front the business.

What about the folks that takes part in tailoring showcase? Eg. the one that komji attended where some Koreans and Taiwanese guys showed their chops in a challenge. Coat makers?

So what is a tailor?

In the medical profession you have all sorts of doctors. Paediatricians, ophthalmologists, oncologists, anaesthetists, gynaecologists, general practitioners, etc. To the lay person, they are all doctors. It is only when they get cancer and start having to deal with them that they realise it is a fragmented thing. The tailoring industry is similarly specialized.

There are some people who have been on these forums for years and they actually think jackets are being sewn at such and such a shop. At first I was baffled at how they came to the idea, but now I realise most people just don't understand how tailors actually work. Which is a good thing.

So you would understand better my bafflement, it's like a customer believing that the vegetables they bought at the supermarket were grown in the supermarket. But there is no sign of agriculture taking place in the supermarket and in any case you do not grow vegetables on retail space in the middle of the city. They are so ignorant of the tailoring process, it is mind blowing.

The guys at the tailoring showcase are cutters.

What is even more ridiculous is the high percentage of people who think the cashier at the checkout was the one who grew the vegetables.

Would that make you an equivalent of a checkout girl then?

Ideally a tailor should be able to do all that. Measure, fit, cut, sew and sell.

It just doesn't make sense, there is just no economy of scale. Therefore, as the tailor's reputation grow, he accepts apprentices, whom once they reach a certain standard will begin to take on part of the work load.

An example would be Peter Frew, formerly of David Reeves.
