Cars we drive

Recommended Posts

Don't mind the Jazz really, but I want to avoid an auto tranny if possible. The old 1.5l Jazz with manual six-speed was not bad. But in general I prefer to buy used because I can't stomach the depreciation hit once the wheels leave the showroom floor.

Joon, let me warn you forced induction especially turbos are a bitch to maintain, superchargers are not so bad i think. The service interval is faster and once you start modding it, if your into that sort of thing reliability is out of the window.

I've owned turbos before... they are much more reliable nowadays. Even BMW moved from superchargers to turbochargers now. I'm not much of a modder but yeah... some of these mods are ridic!

I'm a sucker for a small car with (relatively) big power!

Here's a great Evo group test on warm hatches... all around <150bhp. All the thrills without the spills. And the speeding tickets.

Suzuki Swift Sport, Abarth 500, Mini Cooper, Fiesta Zetec, A1, Ibiza, Twingo

Off-topic for a bit. This isn't a practical dream car (so it isn't mine), but I really like classic cars. I think they're elegant. Will I buy one in Singapore? No.

Just rediscovered this thread. Dang the Gullwing is beautiful.

Roadster or coupe for you boys?

My dad used to have a silver coupe in the 90s. It was always in the workshop. I think old Merc reliability is overrated, based on the 20+ years I spent with my R129 and my dads W140.

Any fans of vintage Bay-Em-Vay here ?

La Ferrari..... gross. The recent Ferraris are ugly, their designers have lost the plot. Personally, thought the F355 was one the best they've ever designed.

Joon, another suggestion on you search for hot hatches, I've been seeing a lot of Ford Focus around KL. To be honest i dont know what the price is but it has nice sporty look to it, for a hatch its big and maintenance shouldn't be that expensive.

After the 355 a lot driver aids technology went into the car but the 360 still had some raw aggression in it, in terms of the driving. The 430 was dumbed down car, too much technology that they took out the aggression from the car. Haven't tried 458, so can't comment on that.

I like boring conservative Audis, but not the ones made in China. Unfortunately, current problems with VW engines are stuffing up their rep.
